Kanye announced that the rest of his tour (21 more days) would be cancelled. Fans were disappointed but there seems to be a bigger headline brewing for the rap star. We’ve all seen Kanye lose it and go on some pretty interesting Twitter rants but this might actually be a case of his mental health. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a disturbance call on Monday from his personal doctor. When the police arrived on the scene the disturbance quickly turned into a “medical emergency.” It is not yet clear what that meant but the case was handed over to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The incident took place in the home of Kanye’s personal trainer. According to sources he was led to a hospital in handcuffs. His personal doctor was at the scene and apparently placed Kanye on a 5150 which is also called an involuntary psychiatric hold. This is not an arrest but it is treated as such in many ways to prevent someone from harming themselves or others.
An LAFD spokesman said paramedics took a “medically stable” Kanye to a nearby hospital. Notice they didn’t say anything about his mental status. All this comes after Kanye ignited a Twitter war when he said he would have voted for Trump. Later, he wrote a cryptic message about his long time friend Jay Z. “I’ve been sent here to give y’all my truth, even at the risk of my own life,” West said on Saturday night. “At the risk of my own success. I’ll give y’all the truth. Jay Z, call me, you still ain’t called me.… Jay Z, I know you got killers. Please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man.”
Kanye has also received a lot of heat when he made some scathing remarks about the black lives matter movement right before he praised president-elect Trump. Whether all of these things were just signs leading up to something more serious we still don’t know. What we do know is that Kanye is currently being hospitalized for sleep deprivation and exhaustion. Is this really a temporary mental breakdown or is this a sign that Kanye will be hitting some really rough waters ahead?
