Leo Finally Won An Oscar!

We all know Leonardo DiCaprio is an amazing actor. He is in some of our favorite movies of all time, The Great Gatsby, Romeo and Juliet, and The Wolf of Wall Street just to name a few. But throughout his long career he remained Oscar-less. He was nominated for four movies and one movie twice but alas he lost every single time. It seemed like it was never going to happen and that he just had to have that practiced gracious loser face on forever. But, with the help of some voodoo magic and the collective will of every Leonardo DiCaprio fan he finally got one.

Leo won the 2016 Oscar for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in the movie Reverent. He plays a legendary frontiersman who was betrayed and left for dead in the freezing wilderness. Leo’s depiction of desperation and his dedication to making one of the most ambitious movies in recent times earned him his place on stage. He was clearly humbled by the experience and didn’t let his first win go to his head.

In fact, he used his speech to thank the people who worked on the movie which is a pretty standard move but still a classy move. But, he also brought attention to other matters bigger than himself or the movie industry. He brought attention to the global warming crisis as well as underdeveloped areas of the world. Just goes to show you that while some people might use their Oscar award speech on frivolous things or to just promote themselves further, there are some people who would use their time in the spotlight to make the world a better place.

We doubt that anyone will disagree that Leo is one of the hardest working actors in the industry and that he truly deserved this award. If you missed his moving speech we’ve got it for you right here. You can really see the adoration that he gets not only from the fans but from his peers. We definitely hope that this isn’t Leo’s first and last Oscar. He’s like a fine wine, and only gets better with age.
